In the late 80’s and early 90’s, I made my living as an actress. I had the great fortune of working on a number of films, television shows and commercials. I lived life in a very carefree way. It was an amazing time. A time of script reading, auditions and diets, or travels and dreams and riots…
When, my oldest daughter was two, I made the decision to go back to school and get a corporate “stable” job. I spent many years leading a ‘normal’ life. I’d get calls about films and I’d respond with a “No thank you, I’m not in the business anymore…” The truth was that I just didn’t know how to live a life where both responsible mom and carefree playgirl (not the Hugh Hefner kind but the kind that looked at LIFE as a PLAY) could coexist.
A few years ago I had an epiphany about life and everything changed. I determined to be free in mind and open to possibilities.
As a result the opportunity to perform came up again several times. Allison Anders (Director of Mi Vida Loca) approached me about doing the sequel. While that project still hasn’t materialized, I had already decided that I would get on camera again if the roles “showed up.” Shortly there after, Ed Quiroz called and sent the script to Deliverance from Evil. He told me he needed to shoot and finish before his next baby and BAM, a week later we were in the Bay, shootin and screaming, laughing and crying!
This movie is B horror madness at it’s finest and it was SO MUCH FUN!!! I love Jose and Eduardo Quiroz at Pumpkin Patch. The film industry, like all else, can be a beast, filled with all kids of “isms.” But Jose and Ed are guys who never let ANYTHING stop them from doing what they love. With no formal training, connections or cash, they decided to just jump in and DO IT! They have been making movies for years. Their boldness is an inspiration!
So watch the video clip and know that it represents more than just a B movie. It represents my midlife revelation: We have this short life to dream, to create, to love and live with passion. HAVE FUN. We absolutely CAN have it all!
