I am now 50% grey…
I posted this photo on Facebook and once again was humbled by the love. Thank you for so many amazing compliments.
I have not dyed my hair in almost a year. I’ve saved a ton of money and most of all, became more confident just being me. While, I’ve liked like my hair (the texture, the thickness) like many women, a hint of lingering dissatisfaction always stayed near. When I began to grow grey at 26 and still in an industry where youth was commodity, there was no way for me to do this and be ok.
As I got older, it’s just become more clear that society in general has shunned the aging woman. In a previous post, I wrote about a beautiful documentary called Get Real: Wise Women Speak, that spoke to this point. Going grey is a very personal choice, I support women like me and different, natural or glam, young or old, the option to feel good is available for everyone.
Hair is just one of so many characteristics but its crazy how we can allow “parts” to define us. I’m not yet bored of the color or “freedom” but if and when I am, I’ll keep you posted!
